Devy Digest: Monday Musings- Week 8
Andy Pham covers college football Week 8, including CFF/C2C Waivers and much more.
Prelude: Our Monday Musings article will wrap up the week that was. We’ll cover stock up, stock down, and some names to watch who might flirt with the devy landscape. We’ll discuss the waiver wire of your C2C leagues, how to structure each player, the allocation you should give to each potential pickup, and the reasoning behind it.
Devy Stock Up⬆️
BYU RB LJ Martin (2026)
Martin has been hampered by an injury all season long. The long-term scope of Martin being a true devy asset is still in question, but Martin has a knack for finding creases and making the most out of a suspect Offensive Line. There were some concerns that BYU would not lean on Martin due to the injury and the emergence of Hinckley Ropati, but BYU fed Martin in their most crucial home game in recent history. Martin has a solid frame and has soft hands as a receiver. Martin has enough elusiveness and contact balance. The overall top-end speed is still in question, but Martin deserves a mention in this category.
Devy Stock Down ⬇️
Texas QB Quinn Ewers (2025)
Ewers hasn’t made enough strides to be a top quarterback at the next level. He checks down with safe throws and doesn't push the ball downfield. Texas has given a full cupboard of weapons every year, and Texas continues to be held back by his play. Ewers came back after the bye week and played against Oklahoma and Georgia. He was a mess against Georgia, with two fumbles, an interception, and six turnover-worthy plays.
Florida State QB Luke Kromenhoek (2027)
You can put everyone from Florida State on this list, and I understand Kromenhoek is a true freshman. Still, the issue I had with him as a prospect, and what I outlined, is he is extremely raw and goes to a program that can’t develop and goes into the portal. Brock Glenn was horrendous, got benched, and came back in. This was the opportunity for Kromenhoek to shine, but he was pulled, and Glenn was back in the game. Florida State will be a portal destination for the position next year. Kromenhoek will be like every other quarterback at the position, recruited by the staff and never developed.
