Who is Julian Sayin?
Sayin was a five-star in the composites who attended Carlsbad High in California. Sayin was a three-year starter in High School and was a prolific recruit with a career 70% completion; he threw for over 7,900 yards with an 86 touchdown to 10 interception ratio and had a fantastic Senior season where he threw for 24 touchdowns and only one interception. Sayin held 30 offers, and it was widely accepted that Alabama was the favorite to land him. Sayin committed to the Tide in November of 2022. Sayin has a quick release and can process defenses faster than most in this class. Sayin will go through his progressions and is one of the few in this class where you see him going to his third read. Sayin is the most ready QB to start day one in this class and reminds me of Kirk Cousins. Sayin has a good enough arm and is a very accurate passer.
Pinpoint precision is the name of his game. He will lead his receivers open and put it to where only his guy can get it. Sayin understands leverages and takes advantage of that. Sayin can manipulate defenses and navigate the pocket to extend plays. He will scramble out of the pocket and take off to get the first down with his legs. When scrambling, Sayin will keep his eyes up to survey the field and easily make off-platform throws. The accuracy doesn’t take a dip when he’s throwing on the run, and he is just a pure passer who can easily layer his throws and make the throws at all levels. Sayin is poised in the pocket and will climb the pocket, which is something I enjoy about him. Sayin was initially committed to Alabama, but when Nick Saban retired, and new Head Coach Kalen DeBoer took over, Sayin decided to enter the transfer portal and end up at Ohio State.
