2024 NFL Power Rankings
The conclusion of free agency and the draft brings the NFL's dead period. Here's how the teams stack up heading into summer workouts.
32. Denver Broncos
The Broncos will start Adam Trautman and Josh Reynolds on offense this year. The roster lacks talent.
31. Carolina Panthers
The Panthers are on their way to putting together a competitive team, but they're not yet there, and the pieces around Bryce Young won't compensate for a lousy defense.
30. New York Giants
The offensive line should be better, and the addition of Malik Nabers should give the team some juice, but the Giants will need Drew Lock to be locked in for the entire year to outplay this position.
29. Tennessee Titans
The addition of Calvin Ridley moves the needle slightly, but a poor offensive line and Will Levis's volatility make it difficult to picture a playoff scenario in Tennessee.
28. New England Patriots
The Patriots used the draft to improve their offensive talent, and the defense should remain good (they were 14th in scoring defense in 2023).
27. New Orleans Saints
The team lacks skill position talent, and Derek Carr hasn't shown enough in his career to overcome that.
26. Washington Commanders
Defensive additions raise this team's floor, but the offensive line needs to punch well above its weight for Jayden Daniels to have a good enough rookie year to compete for the playoffs.
25. Las Vegas Raiders
The Raiders have the defense to compete with anyone, but Aidan O'Connell and Gardner Minshew limit this team's ceiling.
24. Arizona Cardinals
Adding Marvin Harrison Jr., Trey Benson, and Jonah Williams to the offense raises that group's ceiling, but the defense still lacks the talent necessary to win meaningful football games.
23. Minnesota Vikings
J.J. McCarthy and Sam Darnold combine as the worst quarterbacks in the NFC North, and those six games are the only thing preventing the Vikings from being higher.
22. Seattle Seahawks
The Seahawks might have (probably?) upgraded their offensive coordinator this offseason, but their inability to build a better offensive line might limit their offensive ceiling.
21. Tampa Bay Buccaneers
On paper, the Bucs are a good football team. With Liam Coen on the way in and Dave Canales on the way out, it isn't easy to picture this team repeating its 2023 success.
20. New York Jets
On paper, the Jets are much better than the 20th-best team, but I won't bet on Aaron Rodgers's total health until I see it.
19. Indianapolis Colts
It takes a significant step forward from Anthony Richardson for the Colts to reach these heights, but running it back and adding Adonai Mitchell to the offense should make this team incredibly difficult to defend.
18. Dallas Cowboys
My definition of all-in differs from Jerry Jones's, but the team still has talent and playmakers on defense. Still, their rushing attack isn't good enough, and they failed to add a meaningful contributor to the offensive side.
17. Cleveland Browns
The Browns still need a quarterback, but an elite defense and the addition of Jerry Jeudy give this team higher hopes than last year. Still, the quarterback must return to form for the team to be anything, and I'm not positive that's possible.
16. Atlanta Falcons
Eighth-overall selection aside, the Falcons crushed this offseason. Zac Robinson and Kirk Cousins should cook, and the offense is full of explosive playmakers. The defense still has questions, but the Falcons should win their division this year.
15. Jacksonville Jaguars
The offensive additions should improve that side of the ball, but the team's lack of a second cornerback worthy of snaps could be problematic.
14. Pittsburgh Steelers
The Steelers massively upgraded their line during the NFL Draft, and that followed an unprecedented quarterback room upgrade. If you added good quarterback and offensive line play to the 2023 team, they would have competed for an AFC title.
13. Los Angeles Chargers
The football world can joke about Jim Harbaugh's offense all it wants, and that still doesn't negate how effective it should be with an elite quarterback at the helm. The offensive improvements should be drastic, and the defense still deploys one of the best 1 through 3 combinations at edge rusher.
12. Los Angeles Rams
Losing Aaron Donald and becoming a better football team isn't likely. Still, the additions of Jared Verse, Braden Fiske, Tre'Davious White, and Kamren Curl should improve the defense immensely. Stafford still has it, so the Rams should be legitimate contenders again in 2024.
11. Chicago Bears
No team transformed their team as drastically as the Bears, adding a generational quarterback, an elite receiver prospect, and a Hall of Famer. Toss D'Andre Swift in the mix and account for the natural progression of the young defenders, and you have a football team ready to contend immediately.
